Motion Electric Motor Services overhaul and repair virtually all types of electric motors and generators ranging from fractional horsepower machines to large hydro-electric units and turbine generators. We employ a unique blend of specialized shop personnel who possess extensive practical experience and technical knowledge which places them among the most highly skilled trades people in their field.
Motion Electric Motor Services has the expertise and competence to carry out the overhaul, repair, testing and total re-manufacturing of a wide range of electrical rotating machines and associated equipment. We offer excellent service at competitive prices, and have the experience and competence to assure our clients that the work will be done right and within promised delivery schedules. We have in place a Quality Management System that is certified to ISO 9001: 2000.

AC Motor and Generator Repair and Refurbishment
- Overhaul and servicing AC motors and generators
- Dynamic balancing of rotors and shafts up to 20,000 lb
- Squirrel cage rotor re-bar and repair
- Stator and rotor core loss testing including infrared scanning for hot-spots where required
- Stator and rotor core lamination re-stacking (using refurbished or new laminations as required)

- Random wound and form wound stators up to 13.8kV

- Complete armature repair capabilities incorporating
- Rewinding to class F and class H were required for high temperature applications
- Equalizer manufacture and installation
- Commutator machining and undercutting
- Commutator rebuilding and replacement
- Dynamic balancing
Field and Interpole Coils
- Rewind and re-insulation of DC and salient pole field coils. Class H rated Kapton is used in cases where the equipment is subjected to elevated operating temperatures.
- Compensating bar re-insulation or replacement as required.
Machine Shop Service
- Fully equipped machine shop staffed by qualified machinists to carry out in-house mechanical repairs and manufacturing of components. This includes:
- Shaft repair and modifications (journals, keyways, threads etc.)
- Shaft manufacture
- Boring and bushing of bearing housings
- Fabrication of parts and components from samples
- Welding and brazing facilities
Air Cooled Turbo Generators
Motion Electric services and repairs air cooled turbo generators both onsite and within our workshop facility. Our capabilities include :
- Complete stator rewinding using stator bars manufactured in-house by Motion Electric
- Stator winding inspections and repairs including :
- Re-wedging
- Endwinding bracing repairs

- Packing slips issued with each job provide a summary of the worked performed so that maintenance personnel can scrutinize the repair before the equipment is installed.
- Detailed service reports are issued on request.
New Motor Supply
Motion Electric Motor Services has access to new motor supplier inventories for most manufacturers. Where the repair of an existing motor is deemed to be uneconomical, a recommendation will be made to replace the motor with new. Same day delivery of in-stock new motors is available for emergency breakdown situations.
